Aruthor Miller was born on October 15, 1915. His father was a wealthy business man and his mother owned a clothing business. They were a wealthy family until the Wall Street Crash of 1929 when they lost everything and had to move to Gravesend, Brooklyn. Miller delivered bread to help his family financially.
His plays and writing depicts family break-ups due to false values. He creates characters that wrestle with power conflicts, personal and social responsibility, the backlash of past actions, and the controversial poles of guilt and hope.

He was not the smartest or most inteligent boy in school so nobody thought he would go far. Luckily for him he suffered a football injury which exempt him from the draft.Arthur Miller was married to Marilyn Monroe from 1956 to 1961. In the late 1950's he wrote a screenplay titled MISFITS, in which she had a role. Her excessive tardiness and frequent drug use began to destroy their marriage. Finally, in 1961 he divorced her. She was his second spouse and died one year later in 1962.
